Ultima Thule is tiny compared with the last target, Pluto, which is just shy of 1,500 miles (2,400 km) across. By contrast, Ultima Thule is about 20 miles (30 km) across.

Scientists surmise that Ultima Thule could have a rotation period of 15 hours, or perhaps 30 hours, depending on the orientation, in order to explain the light curve they have observed.
